THE WRITE STUFF
It’s what we do. Why change?
I am writing my way out. Write Out.
I have pulled the switch on the pay option. THIS IS NOT MUSIC! now has an option if you wish to contribute monthly, yearly or as a founder. The Substack platform includes many writers, many who would classify themselves as professionals, essayists, novelists, poets, journalists.
I write because I have to. It’s like breathing. So why am I asking you to contribute so I can breathe? Good question. You can subscribe for free, and all content will be the same. Or you can throw some coins in my hat. Either way, life goes on, I will keep writing, and on good days, the sun will shine.
I was approached by a financial advisor the other day. I advised him that I was a far more interesting person than my balance might indicate. I have no pension, other than the pittance we get from the government, when I decide to actually take it. So far, I will defer, as my working life is still active. But I feel the years, especially this past year. Working five days and finding time for what I love, which is writing and reading and playing music, is tempered and portioned out in meager pockets of time.
Today my little dog woke me at 3:09.
I “slept” on until 5 something, then got up. After coming out of the bathroom, I find she has gone back to bed herself.
So the writing begins. Or should I be reading? In an hour or so, I will need to be getting ready for work. When I work or write or play music, I always do my best to give it my all. Frankly, it gets a bit exhausting burning the candle at both ends. So I am opening the pay gate if you wish to help me carve more time for doing what I love to do.
I will keep doing it no matter if you decide to contribute or not. I sincerely thank each one of you for even bothering to drop by and read what I have put down.
We will be creating some swag, if that floats your boat. THIS IS NOT MUSIC! T-shirts, other stuff. Collect them all. Or don’t. I’ll still be here writing about whatever comes into my head in the wee small hours of the morning. Once a week, I will devote a day to talking about music and books that might interest you. As my tastes are fairly eclectic, there should be something for everyone.
Thanks again for reading. The dog is insisting. Until tomorrow.
