Sometimes I want to scream. Sometimes I want to laugh. When I write songs with my band The Judys, I get to scream- not literally- most of the time- but there is a voice, an inside voice that for a while gets to be an outside voice.
When I want to laugh, I have my band The Nightflower Orchestra. The songs laugh with you, at you, pointing out, as I do, the wild contrasts that make life so humorous.
The Judys are the dash-in your face- abrupt- simple. My Mother said boys are simple- girls are sneaky. The Judys- named after a fuck band Dano-Five-O and I played in for one night in about 1980- a blast from the past- considering Taylor-our drummer- he and I have known each other since those early days in the late 70’s- now we are both on the dark side of our 60’s—approaching 70- still pounding and screaming into the void.
The Nightflower Orchestra is sneaky, a comma in the storm, no, many commas, commas which upside down are apostrophes, denoting the plural, or the possessive, one letter off from coma, a girlfriend with a comma, I know, it’s serious. The name Nightflower itself, coming from the supposed practice of a certain class of Japanese businessmen, who after drinking whiskey to excess, make their way home, stumbling and puking, leaving what bystanders in the morning call “nightflowers”.
Charming.
The Judys are in the studio, with four songs recorded, and another 2-4 in process.
The Nightflower Orchestra released our first recording *Pre-canceled for your convenience, on January 24, my birthday. Have you heard it yet?
The Judys have three records out already- The Very Best Of The Judys- The Very Rest of The Judys- MORE!
Really, it is very ok to leave this site and visit any others to hear these songs.
Today I am going to see EPIC- Elvis Presley In Concert. I am hoping to laugh and scream!

What a great movie. Loved it.
For any who are Elvis fans EPiC is well worth a watch, his rendering of Tony Joe White's "Poke Salad Annie" is a show stopper.
Btw, didn't know previously the etymology of "night flower"...
